I have always liked Crow (Corvus corax). Crow is a beautiful and powerful messenger; one always know when Crow is nearby. Check out the one that I was blessed to see on Leap Day 2008 in the Castro.

Where is the gay Jesse Jackson?

Back to the 70s in the Castro for “Milk” filming
In late January, the Castro district in San Francisco was redone much like it was in the 1970s, as a backdrop for the upcoming Gus Van Sant film, “Milk”, about the life of the first elected and first assassinated gay supervisor in San Francisco, Harvey Milk. Sean Penn is playing Harvey Milk and James Franco is in the movie. Click on the thumbnail below
The Long Night of Winter is Upon Us
The days seem not-as-bright, the nights are ever-so-much-longer-and-darker, presently. My body-mind tells me that it is time to eat comforting foods, sleep a bit more and longer, and to generally focus inward, both deep within my being and deep within my friends-family. I think the traditions of comfort food (fatty and sweet!), the many beautiful lights and colors of Yule/Solstice, the need to get and stay warmer, and the motivation to be with our loved ones, all tell us that we are in synch with the cycles of the Earth and of the great Circle of All Our Relations. So, my lights are up and they are on a lot now, including a small $12 “candy cane” tree from the Castro Walgreen’s, the stockings for me and my 2 furry guys are up, my candles are lit when the strung lights around my apartment are beautifully lit, and the smell of alpine berry and pine fills my place. I truly appreciate all of the efforts of the members of Gay Men in Witchcraft this year, as we get this social venture up and running. May the Light and Shadows of the Winter Solstice bring you many blessings and the joy of love to you and your’s. Blessed be.
The Power of the Land - Lassen in July 2007
About a month ago, I had the pleasure of camping and hiking in the Lassen Volcanic National Park and Forest, about an hour and 15 minutes north of Chico, California. It was glorious, beautiful every day - including the day it poured down! - and tremendously renewing, healing, grounding. I’ve posted a gallery of photos on my .Mac site. My love and blessings to my good friend and fellow adventurer, Bill, who took the photos, and spent over a week with me in the utter joy and bliss that is Mother Earth. We saw so many beautiful cousins in the great Circle of All Life, including a California black bear (s/he’s in one of the photos - can you find the bear?), and an astonishing array of wildflowers and birds.<p>I work to stay in touch with nature, despite living in the middle of San Francisco, and I have to say that this trip was powerful and life-changing. Do you have an experience from nature that you’d like to share? As we approach the Corn Moon and the celebration of the Harvests, many blessings to you.
