On Thanksgiving Day 2007, I am reminded of all of those people - human and other - who have loved, nurtured, supported, and otherwise have shaped me into the man I am today. I am grateful for a kind word spoken at a rough moment; a loving touch given out of caring, reassurances when I most needed it, unfailing support when I’ve needed it, and endless validation for any number of successes. I am thankful for places and spaces where other gay men can meet, as our world is still largely inhospitable to our visible contributions and fabulousness. I am grateful for the sexy courage that each of you shows, every day, through your obvious beauty and creativity. On this day, I am yet again warmed by the knowledge that I have loving friends and family, 2 of them of the furry feline species: Bunny and Linus. Although small in stature, they have such capacity for love and empathy, that I believe they are actually more evolved than humans. The special cats that I have been blessed to call my family have been and are my greatest teachers. I am grateful for a safe and secure place to call home in San Francisco, that I am employed, and that I am healthy and whole. On this day, I open my heart to the abundance of the universe and give loving thanks to All That Is. My blessing for you on this day of gratitude is that you will become more aware of the myriad forms and kinds of prosperity, abundance, wholeness, love and potential that is already in your life. May today bring clarity to your mind and power to your hand, so that together we can birth a more loving, creative, and gay world. By the sacred law of three, as I will, so mote it be!
